TMTG 029: A Chat with NMN Sponsorship Winner, Kate Sholy

The Muay Thai Guys Podcast – Episode 28

kate sholyIf you’ve been following the growth of Nak Muay Nation then you probably saw the first ever Thailand Training Camp I held at Khongsittha Gym in Bangkok, Thailand.
You probably also saw that we awarded a 1-month sponsorship to the nak muay who showed the most discipline, dedication and heart throughout the training camp… and that person happened to be Kate Sholy.
Kate fought and won twice in two weeks and was consistently one of the hardest workers at the training camp. Not only that but she was super cool and down to earth, which was one of the reasons we thought she would be a great podcast guest! In this episode we chat about a variety of things with her including:
  • Her experience in Thailand at the Nak Muay Nation Training Camp.
  • How she felt about her two fights and how her style has changed since then.
  • The main differences between her training in Thailand and her training back home.
  • What it’s like being a female in a male dominated sport.
  • What pet peeves she has when training with guys.
  • What it’s like training in a small gym in Montana.
  • The main differences between her training in Thailand and her training back home.
  • Her biggest challenges and how she’s overcome them.
  • The struggles of finding fights in the states.
  • Pros and cons of being a female fighter.
  • How she was able to make her trip to Thailand happen.
  • And much, much more!

TMTG 028: 5 Things Needed to Unlock Your TRUE Potential

The Muay Thai Guys Podcast - Episode 28

There is no mathematical equation to how much potential one has.

TMTG 027: How to Avoid and Train Through Injuries

The Muay Thai Guys Podcast - Episode 27

Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game every Nak Muay has to deal with at some point in their career.

Whether you train to stay in shape or you train to compete, it's almost guaranteed that some type of injury (minor or major) is going to halt your progress and throw a wrench in your training regimen.

Although injuries suck, there are ways to deal with them and train around them. Heck, you can even make the injury a blessing in disguise if you have the right type of mindset!
